Custom Gin Advent Calendar Display – Laser Cut Plywood Wall-Mounted Bottle Display

This bespoke Gin Advent Calendar was designed and manufactured for a private client who wanted a unique Christmas countdown display for a collection of 24 miniature gin bottles. The brief was to create a premium wall-mounted advent calendar that combined traditional craftsmanship with modern digital manufacturing techniques, while becoming a decorative feature that could be enjoyed year after year.

The project began with a series of concept sketches and prototype designs to perfect the proportions, bottle compartments, door mechanism, and overall appearance. After several design iterations, the final model was produced entirely from our own precision AutoCAD drawings.

Every component of the advent calendar was laser cut on our CO₂ laser cutting machine from high-quality birch plywood. The cabinet, internal dividers, bottle compartments, decorative Christmas trees, lettering, and individual compartment doors were all digitally designed to ensure a perfect fit during assembly.

To enhance the display, we designed and built a custom LED backlit panel that sits behind the bottle compartments, creating a warm illuminated background that beautifully highlights each miniature bottle. The integrated lighting transforms the display into a striking festive centrepiece, whether used in a home, bar, or retail environment.

Each of the 24 compartments features its own removable acrylic door. For a clean, seamless appearance, we embedded neodymium magnets into both the cabinet frame and every individual door. This magnetic closure system allows each compartment to open and close effortlessly while securely holding the doors in place throughout the Christmas season.

After laser cutting, every component was carefully sanded, assembled, and finished by hand before the lighting and magnetic hardware were installed. The result is a beautifully crafted reusable advent calendar that combines precision engineering with handcrafted quality.
